2nd WHO International Consultation on Regulatory Systems Strengthening, 02-04 December 2015, ILO, Geneva, Switzerland

The Food and Drug Administration (EMA) is participated in the World Health Organization's (WHO) three-day Second Consultation Meeting on Strengthening Regulatory Systems held in the International Labour Organization, Geneva Switzerland.

Dr. Rosette Vergeire, OIC, Deputy Director General for FROO and Atty. Jasper Alberto H. Lascano, Director III of the Legal Service (LSSC) joined other officials from other National Regulatory Agencies in this consultation meeting discussing relevant and timely issues, best practices and proposed policies including the development of a regulatory assessment tool.

It must be stressed that strengthening regulatory capacity has now become increasingly important as manufacturing and distribution in the pharmaceutical industry becomes more globalized, and is being regarded as a key to ensuring access to medicines of assured quality. This meeting is part of the WHO's work in building and strengthening regulatory capacity in its member states.
